Horse Bio
Blue was born August 4, 2008 to Mary and Jerry Hatton in beautiful Virgina. It quickly became very clear that she was of show quality. Shortly after being born, she was recognized as a good candidate to be registered in The Kentucky Mountain Saddle Horse Association, Mountain Pleasure Horse Association, as well as the American Gaited Mountain Horse Association. After a busy show career, Blue became beloved by many in the show community and that is where Judy Cunningham fell in love with Blue at the young age of 68. Judy decided to take Blue cross country to explore her retirement and enjoy the beauty of the Utah mountains. I came to know Judy in Farmington Utah where we enjoyed many mountain rides together. With time, Judy became ill and couldn’t spend dedicated time with Blue. In 2018 I asked Judy if I could buy Blue from her for my wife and family. Judy only agreed if she was able to stay in contact with her and see her babies we were planning to breed. My wife enjoyed many rides on Blue and fell in love with her as well. After 7 years and 7 foals, I have decided to retire Blue from her breeding career due to the sudden passing of our stallion. I think it’s time for her to go back to what she loves and that is to walk! Blue is as gentle as they come and loves to go down the trail. When riding her you can tell she loves her job and hasn’t missed a beat. She is an easy keeper and has wonderful feet. Her feet are naturally hard and of good shape. She hadn’t been ridden for 4 years and I got on her for a New Years ride to see if she still had what she was born to do and, without skipping a beat, she went right on down the trail as if she had been ridden everyday for the last 7. I think she is the perfect horse for someone like Judy who needs something consistent, honest, safe and pure.
