Scout is an 11 yr old halflinger cross gelding and is an all around family horse. My 8 yr old daughter catches and rides him all the time inside and outside the arena. He rides great down the road or on the mountain as well. He cues up nice but also doesn’t mind keeping it slow and easy. He’s stout enough that a bigger person can ride him but still short enough he’s not intimidating for the kids. And if the whole family wants to ride, then hitch this guy up to the wagon and load everybody up for a ride around the neighborhood. He pulls single and double. He’s a good pack horse as well. Whether it was packing supplies or half an elk, he did it all just fine. He stands 13.1 hands and is 800 pounds. He’s been an excellent horse but he got choke a little over a year ago and he can’t have any stemmed feed, not even pasture grass. He has to have soaked hay pellets and we have a keylix tub for him as well. He keeps weight on just fine despite the feed restrictions. Wish we didn’t have to sell him, but he just doesn’t fit into our outfit with the specialty feed. He’ll definitely be missed.
