Horse Bio
Around here, we affectionately call this big, flashy guy; Bubba Chuck. Bubba is a gorgeous, stout, generous 16hh. He’s everybody’s favorite 7yr old, 1/2 draft, mountain man. Bubba is out of a Gunsmoke Quarter Horse dam, and a black Percheron stud. Bubba is the ultimate Cowboy horse. He checks all the boxes if you want an unparalleled mountain machine, that isn’t just a deadhead “plodder”. He will eat up an entire mountain for breakfast and then drag in the branding pen all afternoon. This guy has done it all and seen it all in the backcountry. He’s as content leading a string, as he is with a pack saddle on. He’ll haul elk, deer, game, kitchens, junk – he doesn’t care and he will train young horses while he’s at it. If there’s a question about crossing water, or general attitude adjustments in our string, our motto is; “Put him behind Bubba”. There isn’t much that will slow this bruiser down when he has a job to do. Bubba is a pretty exceptional people packer as well. With more “go” than “whoa” he will get you where you are going. Bubba will go up, down, over, and through anything you point his nose towards. He’s not picky and he won’t tell you “no”. This guy has also spent time in the branding pen, and moving/working cows. There isn’t much you can hook onto, with a rope, that this dude isn’t going to drag. He likes a job and when he knows he’s got one, he’s all business. Only being 7, at this point Bubba is a little strong for your most beginner riders – he has plans and if you aren’t confident enough to let him know you are in charge, he will decide he probably should be. Anyone with some confidence will get along with this guy just fine. We’ve had kids ride him both saddled and bareback-with a halter and he’s always a willing partner. In the corral, Bubba is the friendliest guy to be around. He’s always going to come check you out, see if you have grain, and then follow you around, just in case you decide to get some. His personality is as big and fun as he is, and you’ll never have to worry about whose in the corral with him. He’s never offered to buck, kick or bite. He’s got good feet and he’s good to shoe and haul wherever your road may lead. Bubba has been an important part of our herd and program for 6 years. He’s ready for a steady cowboy or mountain job that will keep him busy. Bubba will be the steady guy you reach for everytime you head to the corral because there isn’t anything this big guy can’t handle. I’ve no doubt that as he matures, he’ll be the guy you can put anyone on, beginner to expert, and not have to worry about the obstacles ahead.
